I have spend the bulk of my life in advertising, marketing and graphic design, and I owned my own commercial advertising business for a number of years and then worked for a large architectural firm for a while as the Marketing Director. Born and raised on the east coast, my husband and I moved to Maui and spent about 10 years there, where we owned a sign company for about 6 of those years. It was there that I started to break from the commercial side of 'art' and my painting and photography became a real part of my life. Maui is an amazing place to be inspired as God's beauty abounds - I love shooting and painting water! We moved to Albuquerque early in 2007, where I began to appreciate a totally different type of natures mysteries. New Mexico offers a wide variety of different atmospheres, colors and textures.
I actually began my fine art 'creative' career with just a paint brush. My interest in photography began as an assist to my paintings as I am a 'realist' and would shoot mundane pictures of rocks, leaves and sticks as reference. But somewhere along the way, the photo bug bit hard and now I am a fine art photographer as well as a fine art painter and use a camera as well as the brush. I have shot a few weddings, but generally does't like the stress. I shot the cover of a medical magazine in ABQ for a couple of years, but now I mostly shoot for self satisfaction and also serve on the Photo Ministry at Calvary ABQ shooting various events. I really enjoy landscape photography, but try to catch as much bird life as I can too - I find that when I actually capture a bird... it is very satisfying!

I started out with a camera in hand at a small age as my father taught a Boy Scout troop photography. I've owned a lot of different cameras over the years, but my choice now is Canon. I use a 5D MarkII body (full frame sensor) as well as a 7D body (cropped sensor). I use a wide variety of lenses as well, mostly Canon, but I own several Tamron lenses which are not as fast but I find to be tack sharp. I also print my own work on a 24" wide large format Canon professional printer, using any media from canvas to metallic. More recently, I've been working with Speedlights, portable softboxes and wireless remotes on a series of still life setups.
I don't usually enter contests, but my 'Keys in Ruins' image won an Honorable Mention this year in the International Press Association's" Not Another Photo Contest, Contest.
I show outdoors during the spring and summer months at Corrales Society of Artists, Art in the Park located at La Entrada Park in Corrales, and I will be showing 30 framed images from the Holy Land at Calvary ABQ on Osura during the month of April. The public is invited.
I occasionally teach drawing to children or adults as well as teach the fine art of photo manipulation with Photoshop on an individual basis.
