My view of the world is shaped by my surroundings, the high desert of the Southwest. Whether it’s the red-colored sandstone cliffs in Monument valley, the rushing waters of the Virgin River in Zion National Park, or Sandhill Craneswintering at Bosque del Apache, I’m always striving for the ‘WOW’ factor in my images.
Examples include Lipan Point Silhouette, a print on canvas, which is a wonderful example of the color palette to be seen at Grand Canyon National Park. Or, The Amphitheater, a print on paper, taken at Cedar Breaks National Monument, which rests atop the Colorado Plateau at over 10,000 feet in elevation.
Capturing the Wildlight of the Southwest has helped me to better understand and appreciate what many here take for granted. Every day, a smile comes to my face when I look around and see what is before me … the diverse landscapes and flora and fauna that reside throughout the Southwest. This is why I consider myself a Wildlight Photographer.
