Images by Dave Sova
Dave Sova, throughout most of his life, seems to have been studying photography. In his preteen years Dave was introduced to a film camera by his grandfather, himself an ardent photographer in his youth. During the late 1980’s Dave studied with Marcia Reifman, a long time resident of Madrid NM and former student of Jerry Ulesmann. Many years later, finally, as with many, the digital revolution has brought Dave to the point of photographic focus.
Primarily a devotee of black and white photography, Dave is interested in most forms of photographic art. Passionately, he keeps a very open mind. Dave practices a digital workflow heavily influenced and taught to him by George DeWolfe, a former student of Ansel Adams and Minor White.
During 2010 in Black and Whites Magazine’s Annual Single Image Contest, Dave won a merit award from and was published in that magazine. Black and White Magazine is a fine art photography magazine that is distributed internationally.
Recently Dave had three images accepted in the Annual New Mexico Photographic Arts Show. A juried show, it shows the month of December each year and is housed at the Fine Arts Building on the New Mexico State Fair Grounds in Albuquerque. Dave was proud to have been a part of that very successful show.
